Adult Leader Responsibilities on Outings Minimize

Each outing will be lead by a youth in the Senior Patrol Leader Role assisted by an adult in the Scoutmaster role.  If you are serving as Scoutmaster for an outing you will be responsible to do the following:

  • Contact the Boy Scout leading your event
  • Attend 2 PLC meetings prior to event to finalize planning for the event
  • Coordinate reservations and/or any special requirements if needed
  • File a tour permit with Council (done 3 weeks before outing)
  • Finalize attendees (youth and adult) and collect permission slips
  • Shop for groceries with Boy Scout 1-2 days before event
  • Coordinate event drivers and transportation schedule
  • Go and have fun with your son and the troop

* Remember that it is the youth who is leading this event. Your role is to assist him in these activities and to verify that they are handled correctly.  You should only do tasks where an adult is required (for example driving, the tour permit and if reservations must be made by an adult).
